Why detox?

Article 1 of 4: Detoxing

This is the first in a series of articles that we will be running each week about the subject of detoxing. As it’s a subject that we are passionate about and the fact that we have recently launched our Bestow Beauty detox powder supplement, we felt it was fitting to pass on some of our detoxing knowledge.

Mother Nature has provided our bodies with a very efficient detox system, naturally eliminating toxins and metabolic waste primarily through the liver, bowel, kidneys and skin. Our bodies spend a considerable amount of time and energy on this process, with the majority of all the chemical processes in our body involved in one form of detoxification or another. Essentially we have a very efficient cleansing system and if we eat healthy diets and drink enough water, we should detox naturally everyday.

However, this isn’t always possible, so a ‘cleanse’ from time to time will give your liver a chance to detoxify and renew itself, channelling energy into revitalizing the body. Many people report benefits such as clearer skin, increased energy and concentration, weight loss, improved digestion and much more.

For an effective detox, however, it’s important to not only reduce the intake of substances that tax the liver (i.e. alcohol, coffee, sugars, wheat, trans fats and processed foods), but also to maximise the supply of nutrients needed to optimize your liver’s detoxification pathways.

What can we do to assist our lymphatic systems in terms of detoxing? Are there any supplements or regimes I can embrace to keep mine as clean as it can be?

Hi Goeff, Thanks for your comment. Any exercise is great for the lymphatic system. Rebounding or hopping on the kids trampoline is also wonderful as it helps move the lymph around the body. If you do a detox it will also assist the lymphatics by unblocking all the elimination channels.

I would love to detox naturally without pills

How long can you detox for until it becomes bad for you? is it safe to do it once a month

This is a great question, Ashleigh, so I am going to write a blog on it. But to answer you quickly, if you are going to do a really intensive detox, just once or twice a year is fine and Spring is always a good time to do one of those cleanses. The Bestow Detox Powder is different though, it is more supportive of the natural detoxing process of your body, it isn’t aggressive, so I take it every day as an addition to my normal diet.

from Cleanse, tone, moisturise to Detoxify, purify, beautify....two must do daily regimes to cleanse us inside & out :-)

Detox products can vary so much in their intensity...depending on the amount of strain the detoxification system is under I would like to know how often you should undergo cleansing/detoxing. I have done a 7 day cleanse using capsules before which had pleasing results. I love the other Bestow products and use them all the time :)

This is such a good question, Nadine, that I am writing a blog on the subject. Bestow Be Cleansed is a bit different from other detox products because it simply supports the natural cleansing process that usually occurs in your body without being aggressive. Because of this you can take it every day with your normal diet or do a more intensive detox with the "Be Fully Cleansed" programme in the booklet that comes with the powder.

Hi there, what is a good natural ingredient to help with haywire hormones? I have always had good skin but after my last miscarriage I have been breaking out a lot and it does not seem to be settling and it has been four months.
Thank you, any advise would be appreciated.

Hi Sheree, it can sometimes take a few months for the hormone levels to balance out as you are experiencing. You need to make sure you provide your body with the building blocks for healthy hormones - the Bestow Beauty Oil provides you these along with B Complex (sources - brown rice, wholegrains, leafy greens).
Once you have done this, you need to make sure your body can eliminate the waste hormones. The Bestow Be Cleansed is perfect to help you achieve this.
With these two things in place you should start to balance out again. Good luck!

I have tried the beauty powder and it is great! I have problem skin and I know for a fact that a good detox helps to achieve great skin, but it is just hard to have a clean diet with all the preservatives in the food you eat. With detox powders so convenient, I can detox my body everyday!
