Bestow Beauty From Beneath is a plant-based, dietary supplement for skin health.

It is important to use supplements just as their name suggests: to supplement a healthy diet. Bestow Beauty From Beneath daily capsules supply organic, plant-based nutrients that can be low in our modern diet.

When it came time to decide exactly which minerals and vitamins to include in the formulation, I had to think carefully. There is a limit to what you can physically fit in one capsule. I had to choose wisely how I would spend that space.

How did I go about that decision?

  1. I listed all the nutrients that our skin requires for optimum health and beauty.
  2. I prioritised the nutrients that are hard to get enough of from our diet.

For example, zinc is an important skin nutrient that most people are low in. Why? Because New Zealand soils are deficient in this mineral. To address this, I have put two different variants of zinc into Bestow Beauty from Beneath capsules.Boron is another mineral that is low in a wide range of New Zealand soils. Surprisingly, it is not often included in dietary supplements. This was an important one to include.

A Selection of Nutrients Included in Bestow Beauty From Beneath

Boron helps to accelerate and improve wound healing. It also activates fibroblasts, which produce collagen and help to form strong, supple skin.

Copper helps with the formation of red blood cells, which carry oxygen to the skin.

Carotenoids promote wound healing and stimulate the production of collagen, our anti-wrinkle fibre.

Vitamin C is vital for the production of collagen. It is an important anti-oxidant and assists with wound healing.

Vitamin E helps to keep your skin looking younger by inhibiting cellular ageing caused by oxidation.

Vitamin B2 works together with B6 to promote healthy skin. It treats cracks at the corners of the mouth and helps to improve eczema.

Vitamin B3 improves blood circulation to nourish skin. Deficiencies in B3 can lead to dermatitis.

Vitamin B5 assists in the building of healthy skin cells and helps to prevent dryness.

Vitamin B6 works in conjunction with vitamin B2. It helps prevent various skin disorders.

Selenium is a vital antioxidant that is essential for skin elasticity.

Zinc aids in skin healing and strengthening and helps to prevent acne-scarring. It is vital for the production of collagen.

Q.  Can’t I just take any dietary supplement for my skin?

What does it mean that Bestow Beauty From Beneath is skin-specific?

A. One of the reasons we developed Bestow skin nutrition products is because most dietary supplements don’t contain nutrients in the right proportions for skin health

In particular, B-vitamins are often supplied in the wrong ratios for skin. For example, B2 is often provided at far too low levels to support skin health. When other B vitamins are out of balance with B2, you can experience B2 deficiency symptoms, such as fine cracks developing at the corner of your mouth.

Bestow Beauty From Beneath not only contains the perfect balance of B-vitamins for skin health. It also contains a blend of the nutrients that are required for beautiful skin and healthy collagen production.

With daily use many people find that their skin looks better, heals faster and ages slower. As a bonus, this dietary supplement can also improve energy levels and promote a greater feeling of wellbeing.

Team It Up

Bestow Beauty From Beneath and Bestow Beauty Oil are companion products.

To fulfil your skin’s daily key nutrient needs, you also need a daily intake Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs).  Bestow Beauty Oils provide a skin-friendly blend of this important skin nutrient. One tablespoon per day helps to moisturise your skin from within and promotes soft, clear, glowing skin.  The B-vitamins in Bestow Beauty from Beneath help to optimise EFA absorption.  If you add these two Bestow products to a healthy diet, you will be providing your body with everything it needs to produce healthy, glowing skin from within.

Bestow Beauty From Beneath – our skin-specific dietary supplement – has been a popular product for five years. And we’ve just made it even better.

In 2018, I came across an innovative company in the United States. They supply nutrients made from 100% certified organic food sources. I was immediately interested in sourcing these for Bestow Beauty from Beneath capsules.

Why We Changed Bestow Beauty From Beneath | Bestow Beauty | NZ

I was very excited by three discoveries I made about this company.

  1. They supply all-natural vitamins, minerals and antioxidants from 100% certified organic food sources. These are readily absorbed by the body, unlike the synthetic nutrients found in most dietary supplements.
  2. They use water to extract the plant-based nutrients. No solvents! This ensures a pure product and removes chemicals from the process altogether.
  3. Natural co-factors and co-nutrients are preserved in the formulation. These are trace elements found in plants. They accompany vitamins and minerals in their natural form and enhance their absorption and effectiveness in the body.

These three things make this plant-based source of vitamins and minerals stand out from the crowd.

Why We Changed Bestow Beauty From Beneath | Bestow Beauty | NZ

Not only were these nutrients extracted from organically grown fruits and vegetables using a pure, safe method, but co-nutrients were also present to help with stability and absorption. Win-win-win!

The organic food sources for Bestow Beauty From Beneath include:

Guava, lemon, amla, curry, holy basil and annatto.

Bestow Beauty From Beneath still contains the specific balance of nutrients for skin health that it always has, but now the nutrients are sourced from this organic plant-based blend.  We hope you enjoy this new and improved version.

Oh, and as an added bonus for plant-based beauties, Bestow Beauty From Beneath is provided in vegetarian capsules and is vegan friendly.

Well, I’ve had to eat my words! For years I’ve dismissed claims that collagen powders help the skin produce collagen. The basis for my distain came from the fact that any food or supplement once consumed will be broken down into its smallest nutritional units and then remade into whatever the body chooses. The idea that a fibre of collagen from a cow or pig could make its way into your body and then deposit itself in the skin was preposterous to me!

Then along came my health crisis and my opinion changed. What I discovered while healing my gut was that collagen powder, while good for the cells lining the gut were also great for our skin!

What was it that changed my mind? I learnt that collagen can be absorbed across the intestinal barrier and into the blood in short chains of three amino acids. These little peptides, while a long way from being full collagen fibres, give the skin a head start in the collagen making process.

However, that isn’t even the most important thing about collagen powder! Learning more about the two main amino acids that make up collagen completely swayed me. These amino acids are proline and glycine. They are both considered to be non-essential because technically our bodies can make them from other amino acids. However, in reality your body can’t make enough proline and glycine to meet its own demands. This means we DO need to get them from our diet and unfortunately, they are both very hard to source in any meaningful quantity. The only known sources providing good amounts of proline and glycine are bone broth and you guessed it, collagen powder!

So the upshot of this is yes, collagen powders do work!

The team and I have been concocting a world class formulation. So keep your eyes on the Facebook page for an exciting announcement coming soon!

It’s easy to assume that if we eat fairly well that our skin will therefore be provided with the nutrients it needs to be healthy and glowing.

But there are two major problems with that assumption.

Firstly, the skin is one of the last organs of the body to receive nutrients. It is the last station on the nutrition train line! It only receives whatever nutrients are left over after the train has passed through all the vital organ ‘stations’ like the heart, the liver, the kidneys, etc.  So, because of this the skin is also the first to show deficiencies. This can appear as dull, lifeless or prematurely aged skin and in some cases more serious conditions such as rosacea, eczema, dermatitis and acne.

Secondly, in the Western world, most people are nutritionally malnourished. This might surprise you, but it’s true. We have an abundance of processed food but most of it is high in calories and low in nutrients. When you combine this with the poor quality soil our produce is grown in, the fact that it is often harvested before it’s properly ripe and the long periods of time it is stored and transported – you end up with produce that is a lot lower in nutrients than our grandparents used to eat.  This contributes to our modern malnutrition.

How Your Diet is Letting Your Skin Down! | Bestow Beauty | New Zealand

Lots of people are deficient in nutrients. Let’s look at the research. One study that looked at the diet of 16,000 people found that:

  • 70% of the population don’t consume enough Vitamin D
  • 60% of the population don’t consume enough Vitamin E
  • 45% of the population don’t consume enough magnesium
  • 38% of the population don’t consume enough calcium
  • 34% of the population don’t consume enough Vitamin A
  • 25% of the population don’t consume enough Vitamin C

These are very concerning statistics but this is other people right? Surely it can’t be referring to those of us who eat fairly well. It must be referring to those people who eat poorly or who are experiencing problems with their health? This is what we can easily think when we look at these statistics. But I personally didn’t realise just how hard it is to get all the nutrients we need for health until I made myself the subject of an experiment.

I eat a healthy diet, and a couple of years ago I decided to measure my nutrient intake. I found an app called Cronometer that measures the nutrient intake of everything you eat. They have done the hard work of testing the nutrient levels of the average food found in our supermarkets and even some organic foods. You record what you eat each day, and the app shows if you reach the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) of each nutrient.

It is interesting to note that the RDI is the minimum level of any particular nutrient needed to avoid a deficiency disease in an average healthy person.  In order to enjoy optimum health and anti-ageing benefits, you would need to exceed the RDIs for each nutrient.

To give you some background, I eat a wholefood, mostly organic diet, rich in fruit and vegetables and very low in processed foods. Surely I would blitz the RDI’s, or so I thought! I removed the Bestow products from my diet that week so I could do the experience just from what I consumed without supplementation.

So over a week I recorded everything I ate and drank. I felt quite confident but I was in for a rude shock. I did not meet the minimum levels for calcium, iron, vitamin D, manganese and phosphorus. To top it off, I only just managed to reach the RDI for zinc, magnesium, foliate and thiamine.  These nine nutrients are essential for overall health and beautiful skin.

It really bought home to me how hard it is to get the nutrients we need. If I struggled to get all my RDI’s on the diet I eat, imagine how drastic the shortfall is with less healthy diets. So how do get the nutrients we need these days?

Firstly, we need to adopt a healthy way of eating – rich in whole foods, fruit, vegetables and good quality protein. A good base diet and lifestyle is extremely important and should be the primary focus of getting nutrients in.

However, as my experiment shows, these days it is not enough.

I believe we need to boost our diet with superfood blends that are rich in key skin nutrients. That’s where smoothies come in. Bestow smoothies are the perfect way to sustain your energy and get your daily dose of Bestow, which offers your body an incredible feast of nourishing nutrients. They help you reach the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) of key nutrients required for skin health and general wellbeing.

Introducing the NEW and IMPROVED Bestow Beauty From Beneath!

Bestow Beauty From Beneath is a food-based, skin-specific dietary supplement, delivering vitamins and minerals from 100% certified organic plant sources.

Bestow Beauty From Beneath | New and Improved Skin Supplement

Why do we need to take a supplement for skin health?

Fact 1:  It is nearly impossible for us to achieve the Recommend Daily Intake (RDI) of key nutrients from diet alone. Modern food production and storage methods are the main reasons for this shortfall. Failing to reach our RDI’s has a negative impact on our wellbeing and on our skin health.

Fact 2:  As a result, dietary supplements are necessary. But the synthetic nutrients in most dietary supplements are not as easily absorbed by our bodies as those provided by food.

This is a dilemma!  Which leaves us with a lingering question…

Q. How can we naturally supplement our diet with vitamins and minerals for improved wellbeing and healthy skin?

A. With Bestow Beauty From Beneath – a plant-based, skin-specific dietary supplement that delivers vitamins and minerals from 100% certified organic food sources. This convenient daily capsule supplies nutrients that can be low in our modern diet, in a form that can be easily absorbed by our body. Win-win!
